Description
With infrastructure costs escalating, numerous grant o opportunities are available to help fund your projects, but you may not know where to locate those opportunities, or how to apply, this can be confusing or frustrating, or a whole host of other things may come to mind. This short course is intended to help you understand how to succeed in today's grant funded world.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Understanding the terminology
- What you need to know
- Where to find federal and state grant opportunities
- Match the project with the correct grant
- Grant writing tips
- Grant requirements
- Other tips for success
- After the training session, there will be a Q&A session for those that may have specific questions
Speaker(s)
Bryon Fuchs, P.E. NDLTAP Program Director with twenty-five plus years of transportation experience. He previously worked for NDDOT and was responsible for numerous federal and state grant funded programs.
Brandon Beise, P.E.; NDDOT Local Government Division, Rural Assistant Division Engineer. Brandon has been with the NDDOT since 2003. He started his career in Design Division creating design plans and environmental documents for state highway projects. Then he spent more than a decade in the Maintenance Division where he was involved with state emergency response, maintenance operations, and travel information. Since January 2024, he is the Rural Assistant Division Engineer in the Local Government Division, working with local public agencies on road and bridge funding
programs.
Dave Leingang, Planner IV - NDDOT, Planning/Asset Management Division. He has over 13 years of planning experience at the NDDOT, to include researching, writing, and administering grants.
Sandy Zimmer, Ulteig's Grants and Funding Program Manager. With 33 years of financial experience within the Federal government, Sandy has been consistently recognized as an expert in her field and a leader at both the local and national levels. Sandy was instrumental in developing policies and procedures for the new Safe Streets for All (SS4A) program created under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)/Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). She served on a team responsible for developing grant agreement language, risk assessments to determine grant recipient oversight, oversight requirements, tools to assist grant recipients, and leading the
development of desk procedures for invoice review and processing.
Target Audience
City, County, Township, and Tribal agency staff responsible for finding, writing, and managing grants, road supervisors, elected officials, consulting engineers, and project managers.
