The Pavement Preservation training is sponsored by NDLTAP, ASTECH, and ND APWA.

Description

The on-site training will begin in the classroom with a review of pavement preservation methods and best practices, then continues into the field with road/street assessments and repair plan developments. Sessions will be customized to individual county/city needs. Customized class and road/street inspections sessions are designed to help locals understand their equipment, materials, road/street assessments, repair options, and to provide hands-on assistance.

Speaker(s)

Gerard Feist, NDLTAP Asphalt Consultant. Prior to joining NDLTAP in 2018, Gerard led wide array of asphalt roadway repair and preventive maintenance efforts with Burleigh County. He has extensive knowledge in the areas of crack sealing, routing cracks, rubberizing cracks, cold mix patching, spray patching, complete overlays, new paving, and pothole repair. Gerard has worked on rural roads, streets, and parking lots and is well versed in equipment maintenance.

Tom Wood has worked in the road construction / maintenance for over 40 years. He has mix of public and private service. The last 20 years he has worked on pavement preservation treatments specializing in emulsion base methods. He also teaches classes for numerous LTAP'S and the National Center for Pavement Preservation. Mr. Wood retired from MnDOT early in July 2016 with over 28 years of service. From 2016 to 2019, Tom worked for WSB & Associates. Tom currently works for ASTECH sharing Pavement Preservation Methods.

Target Audience

City and County personnel that perform pavement reviews and/or make pavement repairs. The training focus will be on street patching and crack sealing.
